The Joy of Dandelions

Fallen stars 'tween emerald grass
dancing in rhythm to a gentle breeze
sun kissed golden drops of honey
growing wild and free with such ease

Such splendor to be found in the field
treasured gems dipped in golden hue
spread freely through thousands of wishes
not quite dry from the morning dew

In the face of nature's majesty
sweet laughter echoes on sunny days
bouncing off nature's lap of beauty
as she graces us in her charming ways

Ephemeral flower in disguise
admired for its whimsical allure
so precious, playful and witty
unassuming and oh, so demure

Springtime flower of life and purpose
scatters silently its seeds in the breeze
some become playful children's wishes
others become future havens to bees

  1. What season is more beautiful than Spring? I love all Spring colors. Beautiful poem, Sannel, dragging the reader to a field covered with Dandelions... :)

  2. Martie, yes, I could not agree more. I love Spring. After the long, cold, dark winter here in Sweden, I so want it to be Spring soon. Preferable tomorrow! Thank you, my friend for your visit.

  3. Sannel, I have no problem envisioning you in your youth as the little girl in the picture. A picture which captures the wonder and beauty of a field of Dandelions as wonderfully as your words. You know, for many Dandelions are considered a weed, unwanted in gardens and lawns. But spread out over a hillside or a field their simple beauty is overwhelming. Just like your poem!

I know Spring is coming when I read the hope in your words, dear friend. This is a breath of fresh air.

  5. Rick, I have to admit, looking at that picture brought back many dear childhood memories of me running, jumping, dancing through the fields of Dandelions. Oh, that's so very long time ago, but still, I do love this "weed" in disguise. I find it to be a beautiful, cheerful flower. Thank you, for your time and kind words, my friend.

  7. You have a way of reaching your inner child and presenting the joy she sees to the rest of us. That is not an easy thing to do.

  9. There is hope painted with the artists brush here. Spring comes once a year while lasting this long. Then summer. The soil now flourishing, the hard work of tilling transforms, though what is tilled is not seen, the flowers bloom and fields of care offer the harvest soon to come. I see hope and its celebration with this poem, Sannel, simple enough and a treasure in and of itself.
